What's Actually Open on Palm Beach Island This Summer

For decades, the island ran on a simple calendar. Season opened in November, closed after Washington's Birthday, and July was for the staff who stayed behind. That version of Palm Beach is gone. This summer three rooms that debuted in the first half of 2026 have quietly finished the job of turning July into a working month on the island, and the established houses have adjusted their programming to match.

If you live here year round, or you kept the house open past May for the first time, here is the shape of the next eight weeks.

The three rooms that reset the July calendar

Every summer someone announces a "game changer" that turns out to be a pop-up with a good publicist. The 2026 class is different because all three of these rooms opened with permanent leases inside the island's most protected real estate.

Tutto Mare, at Royal Poinciana Plaza

Tutto Mare opened in early January 2026 at The Royal Poinciana Plaza, and the significant fact for a resident is not the menu. It is the location. Tutto Mare is the only restaurant in Palm Beach located directly on the Intracoastal. For an island with roughly sixteen miles of waterfront, that is a strange sentence to have to write, and it explains why booking a 7:30 on a Saturday in July now takes the same effort it used to take in February.

The kitchen is run by the Tutto il Giorno team, working from Gianpaolo de Felice's southern Italian upbringing, serving branzino acqua pazza, fritto misto, and paccheri con frutti di mare under 12-foot oak-beamed vaulted ceilings designed by Gabby Karan de Felice. Gabby Karan de Felice is the daughter of designer Donna Karan, which is the shorthand you will hear at the bar.

Coco's and The Vineta Bar

The Vineta Hotel, located just steps from Worth Avenue, is Oetker Collection's first U.S. Masterpiece property, fully transformed by London designer Tino Zervudachi with 37 rooms including four suites and a Presidential Suite. The hotel group behind it runs Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes and Le Bristol in Paris, and the restaurant program reflects that pedigree.

Two rooms matter for residents. Coco's is a French Riviera room serving signature dishes from Hotel du Cap, including steak Diane. The Vineta Bar is a sophisticated nod to the former Leopard Lounge, with a cocktail program inside the restored historic space. Anyone who mourned the Leopard's closing should know that the reference is deliberate and legible.

The Polo Room

Co-owned by the Argentine polo icon Nacho Figueras, The Polo Room channels the Wellington polo circuit into a Palm Beach dining room, with vintage 1980s and '90s photographs from polo photographer Ricardo "Snoopy" Motran on the walls, horsehead ice buckets at the bar, a -22 Martini with frozen olives, and a menu that runs from raw bar and handcrafted empanadas through prime steaks and Lobster Frite. It is the only new island room that requires a dress read before you walk in.

What The Breakers is running through August

The relevant summer development at the island's largest resort is not a renovation. It is a pricing structure. The Breakers Palm Beach is running special prix-fixe menus at select restaurants from June 1 to August 31, 2026, crafted by the resort's culinary team for a leisurely afternoon or evening.

Two are worth knowing about if you have not been in a while:

• Echo. Just minutes from the resort, Echo offers a stylish dining experience featuring the cuisines of China, Japan, Korea, Thailand and Vietnam.
• Henry's Palm Beach. Situated at Via Flagler by The Breakers on Palm Beach's historic Royal Poinciana Way, this American-inspired bistro serves elevated comfort food in a casually refined setting.

The context that makes those two rooms useful to an islander in July: The Breakers is not a chain. Founded in 1896 by Henry M. Flagler, the property remains proudly independent of chain affiliation, continuing to operate under its original family ownership, with a sustained annual investment averaging $30 million. Summer pricing at a house that reinvests at that scale is a meaningful window, not a discount play.

The weekend to actually put on the calendar

Two dates deserve to be on the fridge, one on the mainland side of the bridges and one on the island proper.

Independence Day, Flagler Drive. South Florida's largest free outdoor Independence Day celebration, and this year marks America's 250th anniversary. Live music across three stages, military honor ceremony, family entertainment, and an 18-minute fireworks display over the Intracoastal starting at 9 PM. The staging runs along Flagler Drive between Banyan Blvd and Fern St in West Palm Beach. From the island side, anywhere along the seawall between the Royal Park and Flagler Memorial bridges will hold sightlines. From a boat, arrive with the sunset.

On the island itself, Whitehall hosts Founder's Day every summer. Whitehall is the Gilded Age mansion Henry Flagler built as a wedding gift in 1902, and the program uses the collection and the house rather than importing a spectacle. For anyone tracking the broader county calendar past August, the Kravis On Broadway 2026-2027 season begins in October 2026, featuring Dirty Dancing, Monty Python's Spamalot, The Great Gatsby, Hell's Kitchen, and special engagements including The Bodyguard, SIX, and Jersey Boys. Season subscriptions have historically shifted before the first curtain, which is worth a note now if you plan to be in town for the fall run.

The reframe

Every summer the island's restaurant story used to be a subtraction problem. Which kitchens closed, which chefs decamped for the Hamptons, which room was dark until October. The 2026 calendar inverts that. Three of the most talked-about restaurants in South Florida opened here between January and spring, and none of them are pop-ups scheduled to fold after Labor Day.

That is the shift worth naming out loud. The island is not "staying open" in the sense of a few holdouts extending hours. It is running a full program because the operators who signed leases at Royal Poinciana Plaza, at The Vineta, and at The Polo Room underwrote their businesses on year-round demand.
